Career Profile

Prepare a private profile, choose contact and availability details, and publish it when ready.

A Career Profile turns your Career Vault material into one professional public page. Instead of attaching four files to an email, you send a link.

What appears on it

You choose. Typically:

  • Your name, title, and a short introduction
  • Skills, tools, and industries you work in
  • Work history, accomplishments, education, and languages
  • Availability, target roles, and work preferences you choose to share
  • Portfolio pieces
  • Certificates
  • An intro video (with several shared, the one marked Primary in Career

Vault appears)

  • Professional links
  • A way to get in touch

Anything you do not include stays private. The rest of your vault is never exposed.

Build your profile

  1. Open Career Vault.
  2. Select Manage Profile, or Complete Profile for a new profile.
  3. Fill in your details.
  4. Choose which items to include.
  5. Save as you go.

The Profile details indicator tracks saved professional details. Rates and technical setup are optional and do not hold the indicator back. The dashboard's application checklist separately tracks your materials.

Show your experience and job preferences

Use Experience in the profile section navigation to add work history, education, languages, target roles, countries where you are eligible to work, acceptable working time zones, and your remote-work preference.

  1. Select Save experience and preferences. This saves that section only;

use Save Changes for your other profile details.

  1. Open Manage What Clients See.
  2. Under Experience & Job Preferences, check each detail you want clients

to see, then select Save Settings.

  1. Open Preview to review the result.

These details start hidden so existing profiles do not share additional information unexpectedly. Jobs or conditions to avoid always stays private. Empty entries do not appear, even when their section is enabled. Work history shows the dates you entered; a missing end date does not automatically mean you still work there.

If information is missing from your published page, check that you saved the correct section and enabled its visibility. Unsaved edits appear only in the editor. A published page may take a few minutes to reflect a saved change.

Availability and currency

Under Weekly capacity and client hours, set your weekly capacity, working days, time zone, and local start and end times. Choose a client time zone and Preview for date to compare the working window. Overnight shifts end on the next day. Checking another date makes daylight-saving changes visible.

Choose Rate currency for any hourly or monthly rate you enter, then Save Changes. Salary and rates stay hidden unless you enable them. The structured working window appears only when both working hours and time zone are enabled in Manage What Clients See.

Add a contact button

In How clients can contact you, choose Contact me by email, Book an interview, or Message on Upwork. Enter the public destination and select Save Contact Settings. Booking links must start with HTTPS; Upwork links must point to your freelancer profile.

The button appears in your profile preview and on your published page. Your sign-in email is never used automatically. Choose No contact button and save to remove it.

Your profile gets a short address of its own, based on a name you pick. Choose something professional and stable, because handing out a link and then changing it means the old one stops working.

Publish it

  1. Open Career Profile.
  2. Review it with Preview, which shows exactly what a client will see.
  3. Select Publish Profile. On Free, Upgrade to publish opens plan settings.

It becomes reachable at your link straight away.

Preview before you publish

Preview opens your profile the way a visitor sees it, full screen with no app around it. An unpublished preview requires your signed-in account; sending the preview link to someone else does not grant access. Free users can preview too.

Unpublish

Select Unpublish, and the profile returns to Draft. The public page stops resolving; nothing you wrote is deleted, and you can publish again later.

Keep it current

The profile does not update itself when you add to your vault. After adding a portfolio piece or a certificate, open Career Profile and include it.

If your plan changes

Moving to Agency also sets a published profile back to Draft, and hides Career Vault from the sidebar until you switch it on. Full detail in Career Vault and your plan.

Sharing it

Once published, the link works for anyone, with no VA To-Do account needed. Put it in your email signature, your proposals, and your platform profiles.

Paste the link into a message, a post, or an email and most apps show a preview card for it. Yours shows your name, your professional title, and your profile photo, read from the profile itself rather than anything you set separately.

The card follows the same switches as the page. Turn Profile photo off and the card falls back to the VA To-Do image; turn Professional title off and the card shows your name on its own.

A profile still in Draft has no public page, so its link previews as a plain VA To-Do card until you publish it.
